A new article discussing a PowerPC Blade product from IBM has revealed new information on the PowerPC 970 chip. Originally said to be released with a clock range of 1.4 to 1.8 GHz, this document now shows that the range may be 1.8 to 2.5 GHz, in addition to revealing IBM's fab process and other processor details previously revealed.
The article also mentions AltiVec, the trademarked name for Motorola's PowerPC SIMD unit, for the first time in an official IBM document.
